What's in a name?
Updates from Michael, Tatjana & Elena
As we extended our “family tree” we chose the following three leaves to express of the joining of our lives, hence the name Trileaves:
Maple Leaf: Trees have played a meaningful role in the historic development of Canada. The Maple is recognized internationally as the most prominent Canadian symbol.
Oak: Oak is traditionally a sacred tree in the Serbian culture. Oak leaves are used in honouring Christian religious feasts, especially Christmas, when a dry oak branch is brought in to the home as a symbol of family prosperity for the coming year. Also, the California black oak is also an ecologically and culturally significant tree in California, where we currently live.
Shamrock: The shamrock is the ubiquitous symbol of all things Irish. It is one of the oldest Irish Christian symbols, its three leaves were used by St. Patrick as a device to teach the Holy Trinity.
